UM students interview contemporary artists at UMMA

Music

UMMA’s program partnerships with WCBN, UMS, the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, and many other campus and community arts and performance groups, helps to us to offer great musical entertainment.

The Ark at UMMA
The Ark at UMMA invites student songwriters from University of Michigan, Eastern Michigan University, Washtenaw Community College, and Concordia University to submit their original music demos in order to compete for a live performance showcase at UMMA and a chance to perform at The Ark. This student songwriter series is designed to creat opportunities for students in the UM community to have their music heard, learn about promoting their music, and experience important aspects of the music business firsthand.

The showcases feature the best of the student songwriters selected by The Ark staff from the contest submissions. The final performance features all the performers and culminates in the announcement of the winner of the series. The winning singer-songwriter will be booked for an opening performance at The Ark.

Visit www.theark.org for more detailed information, including how to apply.

Zell Visiting Writers Series 2011-2012

The Webster Reading Series

This series honors the poetry and life of Mark Webster. Each event of this series spotlights one poet and one fiction writer from the MFA in Creative Writing Program. These emerging writers read a selection of their work, and the introductions given by their peers help to create the intimate and relaxed setting of these exciting presentations. We encourage you to join us and to bring your friends. Sponsored by UM Department of English. For more information: http://www.lsa.umich.edu/english/grad/mfa/webster.asp
