Make A Gift

UMMA provides an essential service to the University of Michigan and the southeast Michigan region by encouraging audiences of all ages to look closely, think creatively, and explore the art of our world in meaningful ways.

Contributions to the UMMA Enrichment Fund provide ongoing support for the Museum, helping us to serve more than 200,000 visitors each year. You can direct your gift to a specific area—including special exhibitions or educational programs—or allow UMMA to allocate your gift to where it is needed most.  Your support makes it possible for UMMA to continue to offer free admission and more than 700 educational and public programs each year.

Thank you for considering UMMA for your gift of art.

Gifts of Art are of great benefit to the Museum and are largely responsible for making UMMA’s collection one of the finest university collections in the country. If you are contemplating a gift of art, please complete this form.

UMMA is accredited by the American Association of Museums and therefor follows a strict policy about accessioning art into the collections. We consider each potential gift of artwork carefully to ensure that it fits with our mission and collecting strategies. Our curators and Museum Director review the gift offers and then make a collective decision. If some/all of the works are approved for accessioning, we will return to the donor to inform them of the decision and work together to transfer works to UMMA.

It is the responsibility of the donor to get the work(s) to the museum, at his/her expense. If the work is valued over $5,000, then a professional appraisal is required by the museum (We cannot provide this service, since it is considered a conflict of interest).

Please fill out this form and provide the following information in order to prepare a gift proposal.

Estate and planned gifts may offer numerous financial advantages while enhancing your capacity to make an exceptional gift to UMMA. You can both further secure the Museum's future and leave a lasting legacy. More information about can be found on the University of Michigan Planned Giving website.
