Reservation requests are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Submitting a reservation request does not guarantee that the precise date and time of a request will be available, but we will reschedule appointments at the earliest possible date that works for the instructor/researcher.

The works requested must be portable, available, and of appropriate size and weight.

The Mellon Collections Assistant/Art Handler will be present with your group during the entire time of your visit. Handling of artwork by non-trained staff is prohibited due to the fragility of these objects; all art handling is undertaken by the Mellon Collections Assistant/Art Handler.

Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment.

We encourage drawing instructors with larger classes to reserve both the Paper Study Room and the Object Study Room so as to split the class between the two rooms, ensuring that the students will have space to work.

Depending on their size, each room has the capacity to display approximately 15 works of art.

Size restrictions:
Object Study Room:       36” tall x 60” wide / 50 lbs. (3D objects)
