UMMA As Muse: See Student Art Inspired by UMMA’s Curriculum / Collection in New Video

A new video on UMMA’s YouTube channel showcases an incredible array of art U-M students made in response to the exhibition Curriculum/Collection. Artworks featured in the video range from poems read aloud by students in handmade costumes to a music piece solely composed from the audio of an elderberry plant’s branches.
The video was available to watch in UMMA’s gallery before being deinstalled this summer, it is now available online. “Students had made art based on what’s displayed at UMMA before,” said Dave Choberka, Mellon Foundation Curator for University Learning and Programs, and curator for Curriculum / Collection. “But this is the first time we made it into a video and put it on the gallery wall.”
This video showcases artwork from a variety of courses and schools across the university: musical arrangements from students in the School of Music’s “Digital Music” course, conceptual costumes from the Stamps School Of Art & Design’s “Unfashionable” class, and poetry from the English Department’s “Advanced Poetry Writing” course.
