SMTD@UMMA: Image in Motion

This program is free and open to the public. Seating is first come, first served.

Students from the Department of Dance, under the mentorship of Dance faculty members Sandra Torijano and Peter Sparling, will present dances in response to the works of The Ernst Pulgram and Frances McSparran Collection. Europe on Paper, featuring drawings, paintings and watercolors of Austrian and German expressionist artists, will inspire performances by U-M Dance students that interpret the emotion, line and color of works by Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele, Ernst Kirchner and Oskar Kokoschka.

Lead support for Europe on Paper: The Ernst Pulgram and Frances McSparran Collection is provided by the Richard and Rosann Noel Endowment Fund. Additional generous support is provided by the University of Michigan Department of English Language and Literature and Department of Romance Languages and Literatures.

The SMTD@UMMA performance series is generously supported by the Katherine Tuck Enrichment Fund and the Greg Hodes and Heidi Hertel Hodes—Partners in the Arts Endowment Fund.
