The Mark Webster Reading Series presents emerging writers in a warm and relaxed setting. MFA second-year students in fiction and poetry, each introduced by a peer, will share a sample of their work. Friends, family, and members of the Ann Arbor community are welcome to attend the readings both in-person and synchronously on Zoom.
Jeffrey Chin is a writer from New Jersey. He is currently studying Fiction in the Helen Zell Writers' Program.
Sahara Sidi is a poet, educator & essayist. Her work explores themes of authenticity, Mauritanian-American identity, gender violence, authenticity, politics of desirability & purity, carceral power, class hierarchy, and addiction. Her writing has been recognized by the National YoungArts Foundation, the Adroit Journal, Salt Hill Journal, and Columbia College Chicago. She attended Wesleyan University as a Questbridge Scholar, specializing in English and Social, Cultural, and Critical Theory. She is a recipient of the Lin Arison Award for Excellence in Writing as well as the Wesleyan University Olin Fellowship, Sophie and Ann Reed Prize, Herbert Lee Connelly Prize, Cole Prize, and Winchester Fellowship. Most recently, she received a Hopwood Award in Nonfiction. Currently, she is a Rackham Merit Fellow and MFA candidate at the Helen Zell Writers Program.
