Description

Subject Matter:

Although Lombard began visual arts later in life, his fascination with detail and technique was evident from the beginning. This is one of Lombard's earlier works and focuses on buildings in the German city, Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Unlike Lombard's later sketches, there isn't a lot of detail. Lombard works with multiple perspectives and levels to offer a dynamic compilation of the spirit of Rothenburg. This isn't a complete image but a series of studies. Lombard attempts several different angles of people. Lombard's work here is more akin to caricature than naturalism.
