UMMA launches a refresh featuring an updated look, new website, and redesigned visitor lobby

A new era of UMMA is here

Following the completion of a new strategic plan and updated mission statement, UMMA (University of Michigan Museum of Art) today announced a refresh of the visitor experience, an updated look and feel, and a brand new website all designed to further the Museum’s commitment to place art and ideas at the center of campus and public life.

Driven by the Museum’s goal to make arts experiences more welcoming, accessible, and equitable for all, UMMA opened a renovated visitor entry late last year that transforms the lobby into a warm, soft landing spot for everyone visiting the Museum. Today’s rollout of an updated look and new website continues to build on this dynamic transformation.

The new look is an evolution of the established UMMA wordmark and serves as both a visual identity and a window into what’s possible when art, ideas, and communities are given space to converge.

Welcome to a new era of UMMA — a gathering place for education, creativity, dialogue, and inspiration. A welcoming, open, community space where you can surround yourself with rare works, thought-provoking exhibitions, and unexpected moments of profound impact and joy. And always for free.
