In this workshop, visitors will be guided through the monotype print making process and walk away with a print of their very own! All materials supplied.
A monotype print is a unique type of printmaking in that it produces only one impression from each prepared plate, hence the term “mono” meaning one. This technique involves painting or drawing with ink or paint directly onto a smooth, non-absorbent surface. After creating the artwork, the artist then transfers it to a sheet of paper by pressing the two together, typically using a printing press or by hand-burnishing. The result is a single print that is rich in texture, which cannot be exactly replicated in subsequent prints.
