Timootee “Tim” Pitsiulak was an Inuk artist from Cape Dorset with a realist style and a particular focus on the natural world and Arctic wildlife, inspired by his life as a hunter.
BIOGRAPHY:
- Born in Kimmirut, Canada in 1967
- Lived and worked
as a hunter in Cape Dorset, while making prints, drawings, lithographs, and jewelry - Heavily inspired by Arctic wildlife and daily life, especially whales
- Tended to work in a large-scale size allowing
for meticulous attention to detail - Had his work featured on a Royal Canadian Mint commemorative 25-cent
