Timootee “Tim” Pitsiulak was an Inuk artist from Cape Dorset with a realist style and a particular focus on the natural world and Arctic wildlife, inspired by his life as a hunter.

BIOGRAPHY:

  • Born in Kimmirut, Canada in 1967
  • Lived and worked
    as a hunter in Cape Dorset, while making prints, drawings, lithographs, and jewelry
  • Heavily inspired by Arctic wildlife and daily life, especially whales
  • Tended to work in a large-scale size allowing
    for meticulous attention to detail
  • Had his work featured on a Royal Canadian Mint commemorative 25-cent
