Robert Rauschenberg; Universal Limited Art Editions (ULAE)
Description
Subject Matter:
Rauschenberg was a mixed media artist who often incorporated layering in sculpture, in print montages, in collages, in hanging veils. In the 1960s he began to create prints based on newspaper and magazine clippings, possible sources for some of the images in this print. The title of this piece seems to reference a train schedule which is reinforced by the image of a train in the print. Also, the publisher of this print, Universal Limited Art Editions is currently located in Bay Shore, NY, which may also be referenced in the title. This print looks similar to Rauschenberg's Soviet/American Array III (1988), which was also published by Universal Limited Art Editions.
Physical Description:
This lithograph is a combination of approximately nine photographs including some of ducks, a train, train tracks, a utility pole, lace, and windows in green, yellow, black, and white.
