Description

Subject Matter:

This photograph depicts a Spanish woman that the photographer identifies as a "Gitana," or gypsy. She wears layers of clothing, including a shawl, scarf, skirt, and apron. In her left arm, she holds a large basket and clutches produce in her hand. Her right arm rests akimbo on her hip. She smiles widely and her eyes squint in the bright sun.

Physical Description:

This vertically oriented full-body portrait depicts a heavily-clothed woman as she leans against an exterior wall holding a basket and produce in her left arm, right arm akimbo.
