Description

Subject Matter:

Lombard summered in Monhegan, Maine and developed much of his aesthetic and subject matter there. Monhegan was a well known artist colony that had existed since the mid-nineteenth century. This print, made during the artist's stay on the island, focuses on a the aftermath of a tree that has been marred by disease and ravaged by a storm. The duality of beauty and destruction in nature is explored in this work.
