Subject Matter:
The series "Anatomy of Feelings" is comprised of etchings, most of them featuring nude figures with contorted or highly abstracted bodies. This work is number twenty-two, of the fifty prints in the series. Emphasis is frequently placed on the sexual organs. The artist, Vladimir Yankilevsky was involved with the Soviet Nonconformist Art movement and often worked under a pseudonym to avoid punishment. Through several different series of prints, including "Anatomy of Feelings," Yankilevsky explores the relationship of people and their experiences in social spaces.
Physical Description:
This print has a series of horizontal lines and vertical columns of female body parts. The print is titled, numbered, signed and dated in pencil at the bottom of the page.
