Description

Subject Matter:

The series "Anatomy of Feelings" is comprised of etchings, most of them featuring nude figures with contorted or highly abstracted bodies. This work is number twenty-seven, of the fifty prints in the series. Emphasis is frequently placed on the sexual organs. The artist, Vladimir Yankilevsky was involved with the Soviet Nonconformist Art movement and often worked under a pseudonym to avoid punishment. Through several different series of prints, including "Anatomy of Feelings," Yankilevsky explores the relationship of people and their experiences in social spaces.

Physical Description:

This etching shows two abstracted figures sitting at a table. The table has a variety of objects sitting on it. Above the table, like a thought-bubble, is a vignette of a landscape. The print is titled, numbered, signed and dated in pencil at the base of the page.
