Description

Subject Matter:

Number sixteen of fifty, the series "Anatomy of Feelings" is comprised of etchings, most of them featuring nude figures with contorted or highly abstracted bodies. Emphasis is frequently placed on the sexual organs. The artist, Vladimir Yankilevsky was involved with the Soviet Nonconformist Art movement and often worked under a pseudonym to avoid punishment. Through several different series of prints, including "Anatomy of Feelings," Yankilevsky explores the relationship of people and their experiences in social spaces. 

Physical Description:

This etching depicts two nude women, divided with a series of vertical lines at the center. On the left, the woman seems to be running towads the right, and is depicted in a somewhat naturalistic way. One the right, the body is oriented forntally and appears to be flayed. The print is signed, numbered, dated and titled at the bottom of the page.
