Description

Subject Matter:

Marilyn Bridges describes the markings and monuments that she photographs from above as “the messages of humankind.” As a pilot and photographer, she documents contemporary landscapes connected to ancient times, which addresses the human relationship to the earth and environment. This photograph depicts an ancient olive tree in Andriake, Turkey. It is large, with roots extending down into a landscape full of rocks. The old trunk is knotted and twisted and its branches fill the top of the frame.
