Ralph Gibson
Description
Raised in Los Angeles, Ralph Gibson studied photography while stationed in the Navy in Pensacola, Florida. During the 1960s he worked as an assistant to photographers Dorothea Lange and Robert Frank. In this detail of a building entrance, Gibson distills the architecture into a strong abstract composition composed of darks and sculpted lights.
