Subject Matter:
Number fourteen of fifty, the series "Anatomy of Feelings" is comprised of etchings, most of them featuring nude figures with contorted or highly abstracted bodies. Emphasis is frequently placed on the sexual organs. The artist, Vladimir Yankilevsky was involved with the Soviet Nonconformist Art movement and often worked under a pseudonym to avoid punishment. Through several different series of prints, including "Anatomy of Feelings," Yankilevsky explores the relationship of people and their experiences in social spaces.
Physical Description:
This etching depicts two abstracted faces. On the right is a cubist depiction of a face in profile and on the left a biomorphic one. The print is titled, numbered, signed and dated in pencil at the bottom of the page.
