Description

Subject Matter:

The statue is Kudara Kannon, a wooden statue and artistic marvel of the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy that was made during the Asuka period (mid to late 7th century). the statue is owned by Horyu-ji temple in Ikaruga-cho in Nara, Japan. 

Physical Description:

This print depicts a black statue in what appears to be a glass case. There is a window in the background that spans from the halfway point of the upper half all the way to the right edge. A signature and red seal is in the lower left corner.
