Description

Subject Matter:

A pair to (1998/2.8.1), this painting depicts an autumn landscape.
Refer to (1998/2.8.1) "Circles are very prominent in Japanese religion, culture, and art, and are symbols of cycles, connection, the divine, etc. Perhaps the shape of this painting is meant to reflect the cyclical nature of the seasons as it is paired with another season".

Physical Description:

This small circular painting depicts an autumn scene as the title suggests. The layers of the scroll are almost identical to its pair (1998/2.8.1). In the small circle are what appear to be two peaks and foggy-looking clouds.
