Description

Subject Matter:

Although he painted many other subjects (including images of people from the East Tenements, NY), Walkowitz is known for his images of dancers. Here he shows an anonymous ballerina in a yellow tutu. 

Physical Description:

This is a drawing of a female ballet dancer. Her dark hair is pulled back and she wears a yellow tutu. The dancer is en pointe and leans slightly to her right; her left leg is raised above the ground, and her hands are raised above her head.
