Description

Subject Matter:

Julie Blackmon's work addresses family life in contemporary culture. She creates fictional and autobiographical images that explore everyday life. By employing tableau and staged scenes of her own family, she blurs the lines between imagination and reality, often adding fantastical elements to everyday scenes.

Physical Description:

A photograph of four children standing in a field of grass. Two girls stand on the right side of the frame, one holding a balloon that blows in front of her. An infant on a bicycle stands to her left, holding a second balloon that has moved into the foreground, appearing larger due to its proximity to the lens.
