Subject Matter:
In this seascape scene, four unoccupied white boats float idly in the shallows. The lilac and lavender hues of the evening sky are reflected--with intensified chroma and varying values--on the placid surface of water. The seemingly unified expanse of color that spans sea and sky is barely interrupted by the low horizon line, visible as a thin blurry sliver.
