Description

Subject Matter:

The bird and branch paintings are very common in Japanese art. This bird could be a baby corvid (?) which is commonly found in Japan. They can symbolize guidance and protection.

Physical Description:

This painting of a bird perched on a branch is suspended in gilded silk. The branch comes out of the left side of the painting with the bird sitting in the lower middle. The rest of the painting is empty. The bird looks to the right. There is a red seal on the upper right.
