Description

Subject Matter:

Alex Katz's pervading interest in fashion is represented in this print. He was inspired by fashion models, designer clothing, and New York City life. The monochrome background of this work is a defining characteristic of Katz's style. It allows the subject of the work, the black shoes, to be the viewer's sole focus. This fashion accessory reminds the viewer of glimpses of a passers-by one might notice while walking down the streets of a city.

Physical Description:

This horizontal print shows two feet walking toward the viewer seen from just above the ankle. The person wears grey socks and black shoes. The image has a plain grey background.
