Description

Subject Matter:

Bottle was modeled by traditional methods but decorated with imported pigments. Blue-white porcelain using this kind of pigment was mostly produced during the Japanese occupation period (1910-1945).

Physical Description:

White porcelain bottle decorated with floral scrolls in black ink in two places on the shoulders. The neck has been broken but the remainder has been ground smooth.

This white porcelain bottle is decorated with floral scrolls with black ink on the shoulder in two places. Its neck has been broken off and lost, while the remainer has been ground to smooth it. The bottle was modeled by traditional methods but was decorated with the imported pigment containing artificial chemicals. Blue-and-white porcelain using this kind of pigment was mostly produced during the Japanese colonial period (1910-1945).
