Description

Subject Matter:

Marilyn Bridges describes the markings and monuments that she photographs from above as “the messages of humankind.” As a pilot and photographer, she documents contemporary landscapes connected to ancient times, which addresses the human relationship to the earth and environment. This photograph depicts the Blue Mosque, also known as the Sultan Ahmed Mosque, in Turkey. Situated in the city of Instabul, this active mosque overlooks the ocean. It features hand-painted tiles, five main domes, eight secondary domes, and six minarets.
