Description

Subject Matter:

Part of a series of photographs of Antebellum architecture in the American South, this image depicts the breakfast room at the Belle Grove Plantation. The space is unfurnished, only decorated by the rectangular pilasters capped by Corinthian capitals. A closed casement window is positioned slightly off-center of the field of view, framed by two freestanding Corinthian columns. Light enters from the left, suggesting a space beyond the edge of the frame.

Physical Description:

View of an unfurnished room, whose walls are decorated with pilasters.
