Subject Matter:
Kumihimo is the name for a type of Japanese braiding. The word kumihimo means a gathering of thread.
Obijime are cords tied on the outside of the obi. Since they are visible, they come in a variety of colors and styles. Obijime would be chosen to match the kimono.

Kumihimo (braided) silk brocade with silver metallic threads.
