Description

Subject Matter:

Lombard summered in Monhegan, Maine and developed much of his aesthetic and subject matter there. Monhegan was a well known artist colony that had existed since the mid-nineteenth century. This drawing of a boat resting against a wooden shed emphasizes line; Lombard's skill shines in his ability to allow three dimensional shapes to approach reality without much shading.
