Description
Subject Matter:
Perry was well known for his large-scale public art sculptures inspired by science and mathematics although their elegant forms, as in Cassini, do not reveal the complexity of their genesis. Some resemble the abstract work of Naum Gabo. Perry created several pieces called Cassini, including a 6-foot marble sculpture (1968), a small Cassini necklace, and a 4-foot steel sculpture (1975). Perry had a background in architecture, and worked as both an architect and an industrial designer in addition to being an artist. He also created small ball puzzles of which this is reminiscent.
Physical Description:
Transparent, abstract, roughly spherical sculpture with tubular holes in it.
