Celadon Lobed Dish with Chrysanthemum Design in Relief

Subject Matter:
A green tinted celadon dish with the image of a chrysanthemum design in relief at the base of the dish.
Physical Description:
This dish is decorated with a mold-impressed single chrysanthemum design at the center of its inner base. Glaze has been applied rather thickly, but is well fused and clear to form a crystalline surface tinged with blue. The glaze on the outside of the base has been partially oxidized, producing a brown hue. Crackles are spread throughout the surface. The inner walls are decorated with low relief of ten chrysanthemum spray designs. The base is at and has no foot, while traces of quartzite supports remain in three places.

The outside glaze has been partially oxidized, turning it slightly brown. The innter walls are decorated with ten chrysanthemum spray designs. Traces of quartzite supports can be seen on the bottom of the dish.
