Subject Matter:

Francis Bedford was an acclaimed British landscape photographer with a background in illustration. In this image, Bedford depicts the Wells Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral Church of Saint Andrew, in Somerset, England. A large column is in the center of the frame, with the background illuminated with light drawing attention to the intricate carvings.
