Description

Subject Matter:

Archipenko was well-known for his sculptures of substantial female figures. This coquette, or flirtatious woman, is similar in form to his scuptures and his paintings of the female form.  Archipenko was a founding member of La Section d'Or. According to Archipenko "It consisted of a group of artists working in various styles, not merely Cubism...Section d’Or was the most beautiful spark of creative energy and solidarity. These men laid the cornerstone of the new era in art."

Physical Description:

This print shows a light-colored, robust, abstract woman's figure against a dark blue background. The woman is sitting with her left leg bent inwards.
