Description

Subject Matter:

This stone has been intricately carved to depict bamboo and the mythical chilong dragon, an auspicious symbol. The artist has made impressive use of the cracks, shape, and color of the stone—the chilong figure is cleverly placed within the darker area.

Physical Description:

Greyish-yellow block carved with bamboo and natural designs and an asymmetrical top. Along the bottom of the block is a seal with red dried pigment residue. The seal face is carved with six characters.
