Description

Gao Cen (Kao Ts'en) is known in China is one of the "Eight Masters of Jinling," a group that flourished in the second half of the seventeenth century and painted landscapes of the Jinling region. Very little is known about Gao Cen's life, but his paintings were obviously highly regarded in his day. Works by Gao Cen are in the collections of the National Palace Museum, Beijing; the Nanjing Museum, Nanjing; and the Kyoto National Museum. This album is one of a pair, each with twelve views of scenery in the Jinling region.
