Description

Subject Matter:

This photograph comes from Dress, a series undertaken by Walker Evans in 1963, wherein the photographer attempted to document contemporary fashion, broadly defined to take into account both haute couture and more mundane daily wear. ​This specific image of a display in a clothing store shows a variety of men's jeans and shoes. They are shown on a multi-tiered rack with glass platforms, and are accompanied by handwritten price labels with product information.
