Saito Kiyoshi was a 20th-century Sosaku-hanga artist, a movement that emphasized self-expression and the individual creation of prints. He issued his first prints in the now-famous "Winter in Aizu" series. This series was based on his hometown in Fukushima prefecture.

In Kiyoshi's work he fell through many high and low points. After a particularly low slump in his career, he reignited his passion by working on nudes. He found himself moving past his period of simplification into involving more texture and composition.

Physical Description:

This print depicts a woman standing behind a black object. She wears a bow atop her head and looks directly at the viewer. Her white hands grab the top of the object. There is a signature in the left bottom corner.
