Elongated Diamond
Ilya Bolotowsky
Description
Subject Matter:
In this work, Bolotowsky's interest in exploring pure geometric form and color is clear. The artist was profoundly influenced by Piet Mondrian and his Neo-Plasticism, which it shows in Bolotowsky's experimentation with non-objective representation. His work of the 1970s, like this one, tended not to conform to the shape of the page but, at the same time, still strove for harmony and equilibrim. This screenprint is part of a series of four prints produced as a portfolio.
Physical Description:
In the center of the screenprint, there is an elongated white diamond shape intersected by vertical and horizontal lines in black and yellow. Signed by artist (l.r.) "Illya Bolotowsky" and numbered (l.l.) 154/225) in pencil.
