Description

Subject Matter:

Sears, an artist and art instructor, often painted abstracted scenes of nature. This may represent an urban environment. He taught drawing and painting at the University of California and the California School of Fine Arts in San Francisco, and then at the University of Michigan from 1953-1989. In his retirement, Sears moved to Maine and focused on his art.

Physical Description:

This abstract painting includes long vertical shapes divided by black outlines with visible brush strokes. The other colors in the painting are shades of blue, white, tan, and red.
