Subject Matter:
Jerry Uelsmann's work is created by combining multiple negatives to create composite images. He does extensive dark room work with up to a dozen enlargers for one image. His complex work with photographic negatives began decades before the advent of Photoshop, pushing the artistic boundaries of altered photography. His images are often inspired by Surrealism, and his work is influenced by Modern photographers such as Edward Weston.
Physical Description:
A composite photograph from two negatives. The frame is divided by two figures that are formally similar and stacked vertically. The bottom form is a clenched fist and the top is a nude figure.
