Description

Subject Matter:

This drawing is a study for a portrait of Mrs. Maud Dale, wife of American businessman and art collector Christopher Dale, who commissioned Léger to make the portrait.

Physical Description:

A drawing of a woman standing in a green dress with a black and white scarf draped over her left shoulder.  She stands in front of a chair with black and white checked pattern, her left arm bent at her waist.  The image is outlined in black.
