Description

Subject Matter:

Featured is a double-sided illuminated manuscript leaf with a foliate border of gold leaf, blue, and red that frames two columns of Latin blackletter script on the subject of Genesis XII, XIII, XIIII, detailing the story of Abraham. The border includes a delicate ivy vine that sprouts illuminated initials. An illuminated initial on the recto begins the border floriation, which is then terminated by the illuminated initials found on the verso.
