Description

Subject Matter:

Shakyamuni Buddha (head only) from Gandhara, with the characteristic Gandharan feature of long, flowing locks of hair drawn up into a chignon (instead of the shaven head or short snail-like curls found in north central Indian Buddha images of the same period).
