Description

Subject Matter:

A scholarly official stands holding a plate with a scultpure on it. The crane on his robe represents longevity and the "double happiness" character on his robe symbolizes good luck. He is holding a plate with an animal sculpture, and above it is a cloud containing a peach, also a prominent symbol for longevity in Chinese art. The clouds in the background symbolize heaven, showing that the main figure is a god.

Physical Description:

A human figure is dressed in an elaborate robe featuring a crane in the center and multiple "double happiness" characters. He is holding a small animal sculpture with a cloud above it containing a peach motif and he is facing right. There is a child on his left, and the child is holding up a light with tassel decorations which features Chinese characters. The background is green with white cloud patterns.
