Description

Subject Matter:

Ichikawa Ichizō III as Kinryū Kumokichi in an unidentified play.

Ichikawa Ichizō III lived from 1833 to 1865.  His character is identifiable by a caption on the print that names him. In addition, the dragon on his robe also refers to his name, Kinryū (literally, "Golden Dragon").

Physical Description:

In this print, a warrior faces away from the viewer, looking over his right shoulder.  He carries a sword in his belt.  His robe is elaborately detailed with a large dragon, and a red checker sash provides a bright contrast.
 
The character name, Kinryū Kumokichi, is decorated with delicate flowers in the upper right corner.
