Subject Matter:
The tripod and lighthouse on the horizon seem to be part of a maritime warning system. "The Annual Report of the Light-House Board of the United States to the Secretary of the Treasury for the Fiscal Year 1888," p. 34, lists "Duck Rocks, Monhegan Island, Maine.—A wooden tripod, 57 feet high."
Physical Description:
This horizontal print has rocky outcroppings on the left and right, surf between, and a spit of land across the horizon with a tripod on it and a tiny lighthouse in the distance on the left.
