Description

Subject Matter:

This small jar with lid was probably made as tea container. Its body is decorated with scrolls of lotus flowers, resembling the pictorial designs on contemporary blue-and -white porcelains from Ming dynasty China.

Physical Description:

A globular jar with a domed lid. The body of the jar has floral and leaf designs. Surrounding the handle of the lid are layers of flower petals.
