Description

Subject Matter:

This special vase is decorated with six panels of screen shaped like lotus petals. On each petal, a flower pot with plants and blossoms is depicted. These patterns show an interest in potted flowers and furnishing arrangement of domestic space popular starting the late Ming, early Qing period.

Physical Description:

A blue and white jar with a flared rim and long neck that has a buldge in the middle, it then widens into a cylinder shaped bulge on a slightly flared footing. The jar is decorated with potted plants and other floral and geometric designs.
